Some moments make your dreams feel suddenly, wonderfully real. Today was one of those days.
After spending the morning clipping lavender bundles and hanging them to dry, I spotted the tent bag sitting there … practically calling my name. “Today’s the day,” I decided. Time to see if this vision actually looks the way it’s supposed to look.
Now, the manual clearly states “requires two people for assembly.” But when you’re running on excitement and can’t wait for your husband to get home… well, sometimes you just go for it. I’ll admit, they’re absolutely right about the two-person thing. Would’ve been easier. But there’s something satisfying about wrestling with those poles and fabric solo, figuring it out piece by piece.
And then it happened. The tent went up. Our Green Roof Lavender banner hung there in the booth, and suddenly this idea, this dream, had a framework. An actual, physical shape.
Running a small business means all those background decisions you never even noticed when working for someone else. They move front and center real quick… Insurance, Permits, venues, taxes, logistics. I’m looking at three farmers’ market options nearby (one’s already booked for the season, but two others are possibilities). It’s a lot.

But moments like this? Standing back and seeing that green tent with our banner displayed? That’s when the excitement rushes back and settles the nerves. That’s when you remember why you started down this path in the first place.
Just as I was wrestling with getting that tent back in its impossibly small roller bag (seriously, how did it ever fit?), my husband rolls in. All those Boy Scout days with canopies and tents kicked in immediately. With mathematical precision, he had that thing folded and sliding back into the bag like a glove. I was seriously impressed. I gave him a little stare down of “how did you do that?”… and he just gave me a sly little smirk.
Sometimes support looks like someone who knows exactly how to fold a tent.
The tent’s back in its bag now, waiting for its real debut. But for a few minutes in our driveway, I got to see what’s coming. And it looks just right.
